Become a Student

Recreation Unlimited has been offering adaptive snowsport lessons for over 35 years.   In that time, we have provided lessons to students of all abilities.  Two of our students have even gone on to participate in the Paralympics and X-Games.

Lesson information and pricing

Lessons are available each weekend during the months of January and February at Bogus Basin.  Students can register for up to 6 lessons at a cost of $25 each.  Each student will receive one-on-one instruction from our volunteer instructors during the 2 hour lesson.  We require each student to pay a $40 annual fee to cover our insurance cost.  Lessons are available to all skiers and snowboarders over 5 years of age.

Registration

  • Registration should be completed at ru.memberclicks.net
  •  Students who register for 4 or more lessons will also receive a season pass.
  • All paperwork and payment must be submitted to Recreation Unlimited.  If anything is missing, a lesson will not be given regardless if you have driven to the hill.

The First Lesson

Lessons start at either at 9:30 am or 1pm on Saturday and Sundays.   Please allow for a 45 minute drive from downtown Boise.  All student will meet in Simplot Lodge or just outside at the Recreation Unlimited equipment shed. Each student will be greeted by their instructor, discuss the lesson goals for that day, and check all necessary equipment.  At the end of the 2 hour lesson, the instructor will meet at a predefined spot and summarize the progress made during the lesson.

Clothing and Equipment

Recreation Unlimited recommends all students dress for winter weather using multiple lightweight layers along with a waterproof outer layer.  Hats, gloves, and goggles will also help protect against the cold and snowy weather.   For more information, please read about staying warm and dry from Bogus Basin.

All students are required to purchase and wear a helmet during the lesson.  Students are also required to provide their own ski/board boots and skis/snowboard.   Recreation Unlimited will provide any other adaptive equipment needed for the lesson.  Sit skis will be provided if needed by Recreation Unlimited
